Little Buffalo River Falls Day Use Area is open from May 15th to September 15th. Trails within the park may be accessible on foot outside of those dates, but they will not be maintained clear of snow, and so you enter at your own risk. Services such as toilets and garbage removal are not provided outside the open season
Little Buffalo River Falls day use area is located approximately 50 Km northwest of Fort Smith on highway #5 and just a short way from the southern Northwest Territories entrance to Wood Buffalo National Park.
The site has a kitchen shelter, tables, fire pits and outhouses.
A short distance from the site is the boat launch to the Little Buffalo River.
A forest fire burned over much of the land around here in 1981. Re-growth has been extremely vigorous , and the park is now just as beautiful as it always was. There are interpretive signs at the park that explain the natural process of regeneration caused by the forest fire.

Little Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park is open from May 15th to September 15th . Trails within the park may be accessible on foot outside of those dates, but they will not be maintained clear of snow, and so you enter at your own risk. Little Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park is located where NWT Highway #6, the Wood Buffalo Route, crosses the Little Buffalo River. It is approximately 30 km west of the community of Fort Resolution.
Little Buffalo River Crossing provides an excellent place along the highway to drop in a fishing line and reel in some nice pickerel and jack-fish.
With a comfortable 2-3 minute paddle, a person can reach the mouth of the Little Buffalo River and the shores of Great Slave Lake.

Communities: Fort Smith
Sector: Government
On behalf of the people of Canada, we protect and present nationally significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage and foster public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment in ways that ensure their ecological and commemorative integrity for present and future generations.
At 44,807 square kms, Wood Buffalo National Park is Canada's largest national park and one of the largest in the world. The park was established in 1922 to protect the free-roaming bison herds of the area. Today, the park supports and protects many unique natural and cultural resources, from diverse ecosystems and rare species to the traditional activities of Aboriginal residents. As a remote wilderness park and World Heritage Site, Wood Buffalo National Park attracts Canadian and international visitors who wish to experience and learn about the unique cultures, landscapes and wildlife of the boreal north.
