Mission or Purpose:
The Hay River District Education Authority (the "HRDEA") consists of seven elected members. It is the mission of the HRDEA to provide school programs and facilities that stimulate learning for all Students. The HRDEA believes that the education of Students should be a cooperative venture involving Parents, the DEA, the SSDEC, School Staff, the Community, Students, and the Department of Education.
Programs, Products or Services:
The HRDEA receives, administers, and is accountable for the financial resources provided for the K-12 educational programs in their district. The HRDEA decides policy for Schools in the District. It provides direction to and supervises the Superintendent in the recruitment, hiring, employment, discipline and dismissal of education and school staff. Within boundaries, the HRDEA provides Students with transportation to and from School. The HRDEA employs a Secretary Treasurer to assist in fulfilling its duties as enacted under the Education Act, S.N.W.T. 1995.
