Little Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park

Little Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park is open from May 15th to September 15th . Trails within the park may be accessible on foot outside of those dates, but they will not be maintained clear of snow, and so you enter at your own risk. Services such as toilets and garbage removal are not provided outside the open season.

Programs, Products or Services: 

Little Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park is located where NWT Highway #6, the Wood Buffalo Route, crosses the Little Buffalo River. It is approximately 30 km west of the community of Fort Resolution.

Little Buffalo River Crossing provides an excellent place along the highway to drop in a fishing line and reel in some nice pickerel and jack-fish.

With a comfortable 2-3 minute paddle, a person can reach the mouth of the Little Buffalo River and the shores of Great Slave Lake.

Most NWT parks are open with services provided, from May 15th to September 15th. Campsites, day use areas, and kitchen shelters within GNWT parks are available for public use and can be booked on line, at http://www.campingnwt.ca/

Queen Elizabeth Territorial Park is located at the eastern end of the Wood Buffalo Route, close to the centre of the community of Fort Smith, gateway to Wood Buffalo National Park. There are trails around the park, and to the Slave River & Rapids.
